Radio Silence – 10,000 in a Skoda PickUp from London to Mongolia

radiosilence.jpg

Skoda cars rock! And if you need more evidence, check out what Dominic Yard and Thomas Donhou of Radio Silence are up to...These likely lads are planning to drive a beat-up Skoda PickUp 10,000 miles from our Capital to Mongolia through mountains, rivers, deserts – even snow if it falls, as part of the 2009 Mongol Rally

It's all in the name of charity and there'll be no maps or SatNav – so it's likely they will get lost but more's the fun! The money raised will go to help disadvantaged kids and families in Mongolia so your support would be gratefully received. To see what they're up to and how they are getting on, visit: www.radiosilence.co.uk

On your marks, get set, go!

It's not going to be an easy ride...

Brighton Calling

Brighton Artists Open Houses

The seaside city of Brighton is currently hosting an Open House event, which finishes up this coming weekend (23-24 May). I visited the sunny town last weekend and was very impressed by the warm welcome and amazing standard of work. Some of my favourites were: Our House,  The Butterfly House and Ben Allen Open House. There are lots more to investigate which is why I am heading down again next weekend to seek out some more exciting finds. I think the most interesting part about this event apart from finding out new artists and illustrators is that you can see the works in context of the artist in their own house! Go check them out. http://www.aoh.org.uk/

Our new poster artist is illustrator Sam Ashton from Brighton, chosen by distinguished art freak Job Wouters aka Letmann. Depicting everyday objects in a unique way, his style updates the ancient Japanese method of 'woodblock' drawing.

Rikka Sormunen

Riikka Sormunen's paintings are stylised depictions of fantasy worlds. She also paints novelty figurines to immerse in these beautiful environments. I spoke to Riikka to find out about her career, inspirations and the darkness that seeps into her pieces, lending them unusual and thought-provoking qualities.
