Factory - Design competition: Go up a level

factorycompetition1.jpg

Deadline extended : 5.30pm | 29th October

An exciting opportunity for exposure plus a cash prize at one of London’s top audio- visual post production facilities!

Factory believe in unearthing levels of potential that may not always be immediately evident and have setup a fantastic competition to reflect this.

The brief is for any budding artist, designer or illustrator to come up with an original design to be artworked straight onto the walls of the main thoroughfare hallway. The top prize will arrest Factory's clients upon entrance to the premises and captivate their attention all the way to our first floor reception and second floor landing.

The runner-up artwork will captivate an audience heading from the impressive newly installed Dolby surround sound mixing suite to our graphics and editing studios.

There is also a cash prize: £500 cash for top prize and £300 for the runner-up.

Entries must be received by 4th September 2010.

For more about terms and conditions for entry download the pdf here.

Project10 – June (graduate) edition

project10newspaper_mar012.jpg

Steve Price (Plan-B Studio) has set himself a rather intriguing challenge; 10 projects in 10 months with 10 NFP/NGO organisations or projects that are 'fun'.

When he first began in January he thought Project10 would be ten projects for ten charities. But Project10 has become much more than trying to create ten projects in ten months. As ever it is about quality, not quantity. It’s also about something fundamentally more important; collaboration.

Rather than send out press releases to promote his endeavor, he had the bright idea of using the Newspaper Club to create a limited-edition mail-out to 100 industry leaders and press people. The content is contributed to by writers, designers, artists, illustrators and other generous people, who often team up and work collaboratively on the content itself.

Steve’s dedicating June’s issue to the newest graduates. Not all 16,000+ of them; Steve’s picking ten for a carefully created issue that celebrates the best of the design industries newbies.

Applicants will not just be selected on their work, though. Oh no. In order to get yourself and your work in to the paper you must (off your own back) source, organise and interview your design industry hero/heroine for the paper SPECIFICALLY about the notion of collaboration in today’s industry (N.B. Steve might be able to help you get the interviews).

Applicants need to contact Steve with their plan and then supply up to 500 words of interview, images to support the interview and/or examples of your own work. Deadline is Tuesday 8th June 2010.

Been there, done that

but have you got the T-shirt? As you all know, Ok-Jo loves nothing more than a good doodle and has put this to good use to design a T-shirt for Chimpogo – an online company who run competitions throughout the year. Ok-Jo's design bears the legend 'Copy Paste' in green with a blue background. To see Ok-Jo's design and to vote for it to be printed as a T-shirt, visit http://www.chimpogo.com/design/2367/copy-and-paste-v2 Why don't you enter too? It doesn't take long and imagine how cool it would be to see someone walking down the street in something you created?

Print Club

secret-blisters-submit

Print Club run by Fred Higginson, Kate Newbold & Rose Stallard is designed to work as a member’s water based screenprinting club for illustrators and designers, to produce posters, t- shirts, all things screenprinted.

Print Club aims to revive screenprinting by providing a laid back yet productive affordable environment, enabling designers to go from laptop to inky hands.

Print Club is once again bringing together a mixture of 35 emerging and established illustrators from pen to mouse to those who cover walls, for another summer bonanza of hand pulled, screen printed posters.

Last years exhibition brought together a mixture of up and coming illustrators and many well known names including Eine, Jody Barton, Pure Evil, Steve Wilson, AustinfromNew... They had over 1000 people through the door and sold out of most artists on the night!

See www.printclublondon.com for more info.
